Wen ge shi qi lian huan hua ce 文革時期連環畫冊. Abstract: Liu Hulan, a revolutionary heroine during the Chinese people’s War of Liberation (1945-49), was born in 1932 in a peasant family of the village of Yunchouhsi, Wenshui County, Shansi Province. When she was only thirteen years old she was active in revolutionary work. She led the women of her village and around in giving aid to the battle front; and she joined in the peasants’fight against landlords and tyrants. She was resolute in the most difficult and dangerous situations. On January 12, 1947 she was captured by the reactionary Kuomintang army. They tried by all means to force her to submit, but in the face of threats and inducements she stood firm. She gave her life in the revolutionary cause when she was only fifteen. <br>The stories in this picture book are only a few of the tales of Liu Hulan’s childhood, at a time when the Chinese people were going through the bitter period of the War of Resistance Against Japan (1937-45).<br>
