Notes:
Doubtlessly it was Charlot's close association with Edward Weston that nurtured his friendship with the great 20th century photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams. Adams and Weston were colleagues who founded the renowned Group f/64 that brought the West Coast vision of photography to national attention. Adam's photograph of Charlot contrasts with his images of the wilderness that became icons of the environmental movement.
