Jean Charlot and Edward Weston met in Mexico in 1923 and developed a friendship that lasted until Weston's death. Charlot introduced his future wife, Zohmah Day, to Weston on a visit to Weston's home in Carmel in 1933. Weston made a series of sensitive portraits of them.
