34 x 21 cm, Asia Collection, Gift of Dr. Marshall R. Pihl. In 1475 Dowager Queen Sohye, mother of King Sŏngjong, compiled a collection of Confucian writings on behavior of women. It instructed women on discreet speech and manners, filial piety, marriage etiquette and harmony with relatives, duties between husband and wife, propriety as a mother, integrity, and frugality. This edition with wood engravings contains a statement and seal showing the King Hyojong granted the book to a eunuch on January 16, 1658.
