The University of Hawai`i holds the only complete set of the Pearl Harbor Banner in a publicly accessible collection. The Banner helped mold public attitudes, especially those of the workers, toward the war effort. It recorded life on the base and served to build the morale of the more than 12,000 men who lived in Civilian Housing Area #3. The anniversary edition documents work done by civilians and military personnel to repair ships and rebuild the naval yard in the two years following the attack by Japan.
