The advice of Prof. Elwood Mead, head of California's land settlement board, is to help them rather than discourage them. He made this suggestion to Hawaiian Homes secretary George P. Cooke, said why not give them seed and advice. The children don't go to school because the classes are too crowded. Other squatters live behind the U.S. experiment station and in the Makiki district. No complaints have been made about them.
