From back of print: These ten relatives received Purple Heart Medals awarded to their sons, brothers, and husbands at Gold Star Mothers Day Ceremonies from Lieutenant Colonel W.A. Fleckenstein, GSC, on behalf of Lieutenant General Robert C. Richardson, Jr., on Sunday 24 September 1944 at the Nuuanu YMCA. From left to right the recipients are: Mrs. Genevieve C. McCarthy, mother of First Lieutenant Richard D. McCarthy; Mrs. Eleanor F. Shiyama, wife of Corporal Henry N. Shiyama; Mrs. Victoria C. Kim, wife of Second Lieutenant John J.K.C. Kim; Mr. Ushi Teruya, father of Sergeant Herman T. Teruya; Mr. Wah Chun Kong, brother of Second Lieutenant Wah Kau Kong; Mrs. Masu Motoyama, mother of Corporal Susumu Motoyama; Mrs. Helen Jacinth, sister of Private First Class Clarence T. Cambra; Mrs. Nikie Nakamura, mother of Sergeant Henry Y. Nakamura; Mrs. Agnes A. Daly, wife of Master Sergeant Thomas S. Daly (who was also awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross); and Mr. Isomatsu Kawano, father of Priave Katsuo Kawano.
