"This was a ceremony lasting several days. I don't remember the occasion. The lighter-skinned man to the left of center was a native of Kayupulau who had received an advanced education and worked in an office (out of the sun)." Dr. George Grace (April 2009). Dr. Grace was in West New Guinea (then known as Netherlands New Guinea) from Nov. 3, 1955 through approximately the first week of March 1956. Most of this time was spent in the Jayapura region (then known as Hollandia), with one two- to three-week trip (in 1956) to Fakfak and Sorong.
